Weekend Workshop was a Huge Success!
Two dozen educators, parents, caregivers, and community leaders accepted an invitation from Mattie’s Foundation to participate in a two-hour Train-the-Trainer virtual workshop – to prepare them to serve as “Peace Guides.”
Foundation President, Dr. Jeni Stepanek (aka “Mama Peace”) shared information and inspiration about Mattie’s life, legacy, and messages, and then chatted about the Foundation’s new Club and Certification forum networks.
Some of the participants have been previously Peace Certified by the Foundation, some have been serving as volunteers for Foundation tasks or events, and some were new to the Foundation mission and programs – but all were invited because of their exemplary role in cultivating peace in their communities across the United States and Canada.
The Foundation was formed in 2005 to continue the work of the late teen poet and peace activities – Mattie J.T. Stepanek – and was officially incorporated as a volunteer-based non-profit incorporation in 2006.
As the organization prepares to connect Mattie’s timeless and universal messages and mission with a new generation, they are relaunching updated Peace Club and Peace Certification programs – now with interactive forums!
The new Peace Guides will be joining the Foundation’s Core Team – helping to moderate, facilitate, and generate content in those community networks.
Some of the new Peace Guides will also receive additional training which will enable them to serve as Peace Mentors – so that they can guide participants through a Peace Certification journey.
