Our Programs

Peace Certification Program

For-fee (virtual with occasional in-person options)

  • Created in 2011, our Peace Certification program went through a “train-the-trainer”  program evaluation during 2016 – and received stellar reviews from all participants.
  • Peace Certification is a Foundation-mentored and individually-focused “journey” through Mattie’s Three Choices for Peace.
  • For youth and adults, and available to individuals, families, small groups, and larger communities of any size.

  • Each participant, family, small group, or community is matched with a Foundation Core Team member who serves as a designated mentor throughout the journey.
  • Participants engage in a 1:1 online conversation with their mentor to learn more about the Certification Program and journey.

  • Participants select a specific peace characteristic that is part of the Foundation’s annual theme or that is an area of interest/need for their journey.
  • Participants receive select Peace Tips & Tools (Foundation materials that support the chosen peace journey focus).
  • Participants move through their “reflect, respond, and reach out” choices and Certification Plan as they explore what it means to “seek, make, and bring peace” – all with communication support from their mentor.

  • On completion of the peace journey –
BASIC level – mentors join participants in an online  chat celebration.
CELEBRATE level – Dr. Jeni Stepanek (Mattie’s mom) joins the mentor/partipant celebration with a Mama Peace Chat & conversation (online or in-person – depending on location).

  • Once Peace Certified, participants or groups receive their certificate and access to our exclusive Peace Certified Network interactive Community forum for one year.

  • Discounted fees for those who renew certification each year.
  • Option to maintain access to our Community forum for up to 4 years before re-certification journey is required.

  • While participants and groups may choose any theme, our current  Foundation theme is always a great place to begin a peace journey: “A Time for Compassion.”

Your certification program fees
help cover the development and distribution
of Foundation certification materials,
Foundation mentorship time,
and provide support for our work to

continue Mattie’s peace mission.

Peace Ambassador Team

Diverse global volunteers – youth & adults – who choose to help us promote peace and unity and become a part of our Core Team.

What:

  • Inspired by Mattie J.T. Stepanek – the late teen poet and peace ambassador   – Foundation Ambassadors serve individually and as a  Foundation community as catalysts for change.
  • They are a part of fostering a culture of kindness and understanding that leads to peace within and with others.

Who:

  • The ambassadors of the Mattie Stepanek Peace Foundation are a diverse group of individuals committed to advancing peace, unity, and compassion across the globe.
  • Our Foundation Ambassadors include youth and adults from around the world who represent diverse backgrounds in culture, education, arts, activism, and diplomacy.
  • Our Ambassadors are part of our “Core Team” – along with our Board of Directors and our Foundation Coordinators.

How:

  • They participate in various Foundation programs and initiatives based on their time, treasure, and talents – such as peace education, community outreach, and global campaigns.
  • In communications or meetings with the Foundation Board of Directors, our Ambassadors contribute their unique perspectives and expertise to help further our work to continue Mattie’s mission of cultivating peace within and between individuals and communities.

Why:

  • The purpose is to spread Mattie’s messages of hope and harmony for our world.
  • Through their efforts, the Mattie Stepanek Peace Foundation is better able to continue inspiring local and global neighbors of all ages to embrace peace, celebrate differences, and work collaboratively towards a more just and inclusive world.
