In his For Our World poem, Mattie urges us to “be silent” – not cease advocacy, but to hear “the blessing of songs that grown in our hearts.”

Mattie’s mom reflects on pausing to process emotions. The events of 9/11/2001 lead Mattie to pen For Our World urging people to “stop” – not to disengage but to reflect and respond with clarity, compassion, and purpose.
